This position would work as needed, typically filling in for regular pharmacists who are absent or during peak times when additional support is required. Business hours are Monday – Friday, between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Medication Dispensing: Accurately and efficiently dispense medications to patients according to prescriptions or medication orders, ensuring appropriate dosage, labeling, and packaging.
- Prescription Verification: Review and verify the accuracy and appropriateness of prescriptions or medication orders, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Drug Interactions & Contraindications: Assess potential drug interactions, contraindications, and allergies to avoid adverse reactions or medication errors.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and manage medication inventory levels, restock supplies as needed, and ensure proper storage and disposal of medications.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals: Communicate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to clarify medication-related issues, provide recommendations, and ensure optimal patient care.
- Documentation & Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medication profiles, prescription records, and other required documentation.
- Adherence to Regulations: Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards in the practice of pharmacy, including maintaining patient confidentiality.
Qualifications & Skills
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D.) and possess a valid Tennessee pharmacist license.
- Prior experience working as a pharmacist with a good understanding of pharmacy operations and dispensing procedures. Long-Term Care experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Flexibility to work on an as-needed basis.
- Maintain a professional demeanor, exhibit ethical behavior, and demonstrate a commitment to patient safety and well-being.
